Darius Acuff Jr. is the most explosive downhill lead guard in the 2026 class.
The 6-foot-3 Arkansas freshman averaged 16.8 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.3 steals while
shooting 38% from three on respectable volume. Acuff's combination of first-step burst,
finishing through contact, and improving pull-up shooting profiles as the most natural lead
PG in the class. He is the son of former Detroit Pistons assistant Darius Acuff Sr., which
shows in his pick-and-roll feel and his pre-snap defensive recognition. The case for Acuff
is clean: PG-needy lottery teams (Utah Jazz, Sacramento, Charlotte) all have him in their
top-eight pre-draft tier. The case against: shot selection in halfcourt sets, and he can be
forced into low-percentage off-the-dribble jumpers by drop coverage. Most boards have him in
the 5-12 range.
